Some fun things that might have happened yesterday

  • I got told I would survive my illness
  • I found some long lost songs I listened to back in the day and iTunesed them
  • I went to town and didn't faint in Primark
  • I had my first lecture
  • I practically followed Ross Millard down a street (I'm not a stalker!)
I'm officially mad.
I'm supposed to be thinking of something to review for my 'Writing for Publication' unit but I've got until next Friday for my seminar by which point I will have been to a total of two more gigs. I might think about Inglourious Basterds too. That was a mint film, especially a particular bit near the ending... It beat Valkerie anyway. So that's my ideas sorted...
My last lecture today involved us watching CSI Miami which showed us that in Miami everyone has a gun and they have crap pool parties. Also it always seems to be sunny. Apparently it's one of the biggest American shows. It's not that great really. And this is going by one episode.
I have to also read a news story from this week and see how the key elements of journalism effect it... this is stuff like telling the truth and be interesting as well as relevant. So, ok I never learnt that yet, I had to check my notes. Just to show I do listen...
Anyway, weeks 5 and 6 are going to be fantastic as I shall be visiting my territory - the radio.
My first live show was as follows....

Somewhere Else (Festival anthem of the week)

I generally played whatever I wanted. People did make requests but they'd be rubbish and irrelevant. This was my very own show and it made me proud. And now it's going big time...

Next week... Viva City and The Cribs tear up Newcastle and maybe some new films come out too but whatever you're up to stay off the grass.

I hope all my days
Will be lit by your face
I hope all the years
Will hold tight our promises

I don't wanna be old and sleep alone
An empty house is not a home
I don't wanna be old and feel afraid

I don't wanna be old and sleep alone
An empty house is not a home
I don't wanna be old and feel afraid

And if I need anything at all

I need a place
That's hidden in the deep
Where lonely angels sing you to your sleep
Though all the world is broken

I need a place
Where I can make my bed
A lover's lap where I can lay my head
Cos now the room is spinning
The day's beginning
(Keane - Atlantic 2006)
