Shelves, ice, cheese
Today was extremely icy and I had no salt so I had to slip about.
We actually have shelves for our DVDs now, before they were just piled up on top of some sets of drawers, now they look mint. (£14.99 in £Stretcher).
Don't know what the cheese reference is about but we watched Jimmy Carr's Telling Jokes DVD (which was funny) and it's in a yellow cover.
Off to buy more LEGO. Bye.
EDIT: LEGO OUT OF STOCK ON TOYS Я US WEBSITE. DAMN KIDS.

HEROES: COMING SOON TO BBC 2
The new series will start with a double bill on Saturday 9th January. An early schedule has it following QI. However the BBC themselves are yet to announce a time. It took a while to find but I was given a link. Very well hidden.

Merry Christmas
Got a whole host of things this year including the rest of the Mando Diao albums I didn't already have as well as some chocolate that it going to last ages, the KOL boxset and the now rare edition of LOST series 5 alongside a printer for my studies (so I don't have to wait ages for a computer in the library at peak times just to print off work).
Watched The Queen's speech earlier and had no idea what she was on about as I was snozzled. Now I am being forced to listen to the Doctor Who special thingy and the voice acting is atrocious, really overly-dramatic and ridiculous. Reminds me of the Romeo and Juliet enaction in Hot Fuzz. I thought Nicholas Cage was bad!
Anyways, enjoy your evening, nothing much else. Cheerio.

Ahh what a beautiful day
I've been playing bass and maybe I should more often as good things tend to come of it. Today's new learner was That's Entertainment by The Jam which I have attempted before but couldn't get the rhythm right. After Hounds Of Love (The Futureheads one), there came a knock and the door and there it was, my laptop, back in time for Christmas. It was a lot earlier than I was expecting, I was originally told two weeks, and being Christmas I thought it would be even later but there it was. The original Compaq loading screen has been changed to a new HP one, the DVD drive has been replaced in favour of a shiny new one and my laptop actually smells of cleaness. Anyway, time to test it out. Best lead-up to Christmas ever. Bye kids.
Viva City @ The Cluny
Great show, mint lazers. Repeat please?
I was stood at the back next to a smoke machine. Everytime it went off it looked as though I was on fire, much to the amusement of Ali Allerdyce, Viva City's lead vocalist. Support for the evening, which ended with a trip to McDonald's, was from The Dead Set (average indie band) and Suzi Won (Viva City with masks only not really Viva City but you get the idea). Still no Kate Bush but I got a CD single of Have You Ever Felt So Messed Up?, which I got signed and a £6 t-shirt from Primark with the VC print on. Nice night, hope they do it again!
Apologies to Jimmy Carr but how can you look at this and not end up hidden behind the sofa?

Snow and Christmas
Not usually now do you get those two things at the same time but it's happening now and it's freezing. Nice. I think it's stopped snowing now but the ground is white and probably very slippy.
My laptop may be back with me in time for Christmas, as the team have been keeping me updated as to where it's at, which is very nice of them and is making me happy. I'm amazed on how well I have been coping without it. Instead I have been playing on my Gameboy, which makes a change. I should really get my bass out at some point, that'll be something to do Tuesday.
Viva City are playing a Christmas show tomorrow night at The Cluny. Tickets available from Beatdown Records, RPM and The Cluny and there may be some left on the door on the night. Doors open at 8pm.

I think that's everything. Oh, I have been lucky and have found an air date! LOST Season 6 premieres in the UK at 9pm on Friday February 5th and will follow on every Friday. FlashForward is back on again tomorrow, according to the Five website, following a mid-season break.

Of all the songs that could have been picked
Once again we have reached the race for Christmas number one and once again (like last year), people have decided to hi-jack the charts and buy something other than the X Factor single. Last year it failed but this year's attempt seems much more successful. However, I'm not too sure about the song and the idiot who picked it should be shot. The song is Killing In The Name Of by Rage Against The Machine. To be fair, I've not heard any of their stuff but I've just read an article where they have been described as being 'rap-metal'. I hate rap and I hate metal and the two together just sounds like hell. Nuff said, look at Linkin Park, they are a pile of crap. That's what I now imagine RATM as sounding like.
Another point, isn't the whole point of having a Christmas number for it being a Christmas song? The UK has gone mental.
RATM played Leeds Festival in 2008 and apparently the entire festival-goers attended the show. I would have gone to see Babyshambles instead, they were on at the same time and I have actually heard them.
Get Cliff Richard his Number 1 of the decade.

My dear comrades (If anyone actually reads this blog)
The time has come.My two year old laptop is dying and it's getting taken off me for two whole weeks for repair.
That's much worse sounding than it is. The disc drive is broke, yes the part of the system that allows me to upload CDs, watch DVDs and play games so hopefully it'll all get sorted and sent back to me soon. It's had a lot of use these past couple of years, I admit, it has been great and, yes, I feel like I have lost a part of me.
I hate Windows 7 and hope that the tech team can do all they can to save my Vista-run laptop. This is probably the last blog I will write on here for a while so here's a fitting song to get us all through.
Don't be afraid...

Exams and Wednesday night drinkage
I got two bottles of WKD from the Co-op for £5, that was 50p cheaper than at Iceland.
Anyway, so I can finally look forward to Christmas now I don't have exams and what-not to worry about, which is nice.
Sorry it's not a Christmas song, but it's still good. Seen these guys live twice, the first time supporting The Subways. Met them the second time, really friendly Glaswegians, just like We Are The Physics who have been away too long! They are supposedly working on the new album which I'm hoping to hear soon.
Anyway, I need to practise shorthand now....

Sylar Stole My Brain and Heroes Season 3
It has come to my attention that there is a 'Sylar Stole My Brain' t-shirt in existance. This is it below for those interested:
Just remember it is mine though.
I've also just finished Series 3 of Heroes and it was a really sad ending. I won't spoil it for peoples who haven't seen it yet. It was really crazy stuff though! Best series so far. It's made me think about which out of LOST and Heroes I prefer.
As usual, I've been trying to find airing dates for season 4. No luck so far! Any help would be nice.

Thanks to the 1000+ people in joined me last night...
... in saying who gives two %$#£'s about Jedward when you can go and see From The Jam instead.
Yes, the average age of the audience was about 50 but they were all up for a good time which was had by all (you bunch of nutters!).
The choice of songs between bands was probably the best played at a gig (Madness, The Specials, The Undertones...) but how better to celebrate the late 1970s than with a big sing along with all the drunk old blokes dotted around the venue.
Support for tonight's show came from Newcastle's very own The Longsands who are along the lines of Mando Diao and Oasis with The Small Faces thrown in for good measure. They were not one bit disappointing.
According to a sign in the foyer, Rick Buckler would not be drumming but was to be replaced by Mark Brzezicki who's played in Procol Harum and The Cult. Wikipedia has been updated to say Buckler has left the band. The reason is currently unknown.
Paul Weller has been replaced by a guy called Russell Hastings, who, unfortunately, doesn't have a Wikipedia page but he was a good replacement.
The three of them (joined by keyboardist Dave Moore) tore through a set of classic Jam tracks, finishing with an encore of In The City, Town Called Malice and Down in the Tube Station At Midnight.
Obviously Weller and Buckler are irreplaceable and it would have been great for The Jam to tour as a full group again but with Bruce Foxton's signature bass playing telling the crowd he's still himself, From The Jam were still a joy to behold.
People who went to see Jedward instead will be kicking themselves.
